The hand forged blade

Wolf Heart Iron Works

The blade is the true embodiment of the human experience. It is the quintessential tool that has allowed humankind to thrive in this vast and unforgiving wilderness. It has shaped and sculpted all of human history and continues to be the most widely used tool in existence.
From flint knapped stone knives we have come a long way in material and metallurgy. Our knives are made from extremely high quality High Carbon steel which is then layered upon itself and forged welded together over and over again which brings out unique and beautiful patterns in the steel.
The Mission of Wolf Heart is to create the best performing tools possible. Tools that are deserving of being passed down from generation to generation.
Wolf Heart  strives to envoke the ancient warrior and hunter and dreamer spirits from the past into the present day by putting absolute love, integrity and respect into these one of a kind hand forged blades.

Keep your heart on your sleeve

Cody Myers

I grew up out in the woods of Minnesota with my parents and older brother. My folks were log home builders and back to the land homesteaders. Growing up was very hands on, from maple syrup gathering, gardening, animal care and a long  list of chores. My brother and I found plenty of time however to escape to the woods and create swords out of sticks and pretend we were Robin Hood or King Arthur or many other folk heroes of days gone. I would often draw these characters on any piece of paper close enough and I continue to draw to this day.
Later in life through traveling to many places around the world I developed a deep appreciation for handmade things and the artisans approach to craft. I obtained a degree in Spanish language and cultural studies from the University of Minnesota, yet there was still a need and deep desire to work with my hands and to create tangible objects.
So I signed up for a Damascus knife making course at the North House Folk School in Gran Marais Minnesota. A fire was lit and for the first time ever I truly felt a calling to pursue this passion.
I founded Wolf Heart in 2012 out of a tiny shed in Duluth MN. The forge is now located in Foxboro WI on 40 acres of forest and streams.
I have been studying blacksmithing and bladesmithing for 11 years and have taught all those years at the North House Folk School apprenticing under the senior instructor for the first 5 years.
I  passed my American Bladesmith Journeyman performance test with knife making hall of fame holder Joseph Keeslar and have studied with MasterSmith Jason Knight in Kukri making.
My personal inspiration comes from the old tales of warriors and their weapons and from amazing craftsman and their tools. The ancient desire to create and to be a maker drives me. The wanderer, the dream keeper, the warrior are what I strive to embody in my work to show respect to those who walked before us and carved their experience into history.
